Are peptides steroids?

FAQ·Consults & Care Plans

No. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signalling molecules, telling cells how to behave. Anabolic steroids are synthetic derivatives of testosterone that act directly on hormone receptors. They are different classes of compound, with different mechanisms and different risk profiles.

That distinction is not a free pass. Some peptides act on hormonal pathways, for example by influencing growth hormone signalling, so they can have real physiological effects and real contraindications. Being a peptide rather than a steroid does not make a compound harmless, nor does it place it outside the law, nor does it make it appropriate without a clinical assessment.

This is why the consult starts with your history and, where indicated, your bloods, rather than with a compound. A doctor can explain what a given peptide does and does not do, and whether it suits your goals.
